Villaricos is a quaint fishing town surrounded by mountains, and located in the Costa Almeria region of Spain. There are two beaches one that is sandy and one stoney, they are both quiet and excellent for diving, there is a local scuba diving school. Every week on a Sunday morning from 10-2pm there is a market selling high quality local produce. The name Villaricos means rich village this is from the times where it was a silver mining town. Now the local largely rely on incomes from tourism, and there are many good shops, restaurants, bars. There is also a large harbour.

Cabo de Gata Natural Park - the natural park is very nearby and is well worth visiting, its a protected area with high ecological value, due to its flora and fauna.
Astronomical Center - in Gergal, Sierra de los Filabres, you will find a astronomical center where you will find the worlds most powerful telescope, with the year round clear skies there is much to see
Troglodyte Villages - there are many troglodyte villages worth visiting because their homes are caves dug out of the cliffs. The village of Sante Fe de Modujar is well recommended
Mini Hollywood - a wild west town recreated with shows, cowboys, a museum, restaurants, a Zoo with an array of animals, and a playground for the children
