San Roque Club Seen by many as the social heart of this part of Andalucia, the San Roque Club is a sporting oasis. On offer are two of the finest golf courses on the Costa del Sol; set in tranquil surroundings at the tip of the Iberian Peninsular, and near the town of San Roque. In addition there are top class tennis, horse riding, swimming, and dining options to choose from. The 18 hole par 72 old course was designed by Dave Thomas, with its bunkers redesigned by Seve Ballesteros. Rated amongst the best in Europe the courses tight sloping fairways are lined by mature cork oak trees; demanding straight, accurate drives. Greens are fast, with bunkers and water hazards requiring precise approach shots. Designed by Perry Dye and Seve Ballesteros the 18 hole par 72 new course was added to complement the existing course and opened in 2003. Measuring 6626 metres at championship length the course features five tees for each hole, offering challenge for average players and scratch golfers alike. More than a hundred bunkers litter the course, and water hazards protect four of the greens. The San Roque Club plays host to the Seve Ballesteros Natural Golf School. Here golfers can receive tuition for all levels of ability; using the best in analysis methods and technology to asses progress and understand the modifications needed to perfect swing. Other golfing facilities include a two tier 28 bay driving range, practice area, putting greens, pitching area, three practice bunkers, pro shop, club fitting, club hire, and GPS buggies. The San Roque Club also boasts a host of additional amenities, as one would expect from a resort of this standard. Facilities here include; a 5 star hotel, equestrian centre with tuition and recreational riding, swimming pools, El Bolero restaurant (serving modern interpretations of classic Spanish cooking), Kamakura restaurant (regarded by many as one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in Spain), and the Buganvilla restaurant (an al fresco dining experience). Special events are often held at San Roque, with big names in the entertainment world featuring.
