Puerto Banus Beaches Puerto Banus boasts some excellent beaches, almost all of them convenient and well equipped. Flanked by hotels and apartments looking out across the Mediterranean Sea they are as popular as ever. Great care and attention is paid to litter collection throughout Puerto Banus' beaches, and lifeguards/police patrols are in operation. Please see below for information on some of the most popular beaches in Puerto Banus: -
Playa Nueva Andalucia / Nueva Andalucia Beach The 1300 metre Playa Nueva Andalucia is situated to the west of Puerto Banus, in the direction of Guadalmina. Formed by four small artificially created bays, the water here is very calm, and the sand fine and golden. This is one of Puerto Banus' most popular beaches so it can get very busy during the summer months. Flanking the beach is an attractive promenade lined with a choice of cafes and restaurants. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, ramps and provision for people with disabilities, water sports, windsurfing, life guards, and regular police patrols.
Playa Artola / Artola Beach Playa Artola stretches for around 1250 metres near the Cabopino residential area. In fact the attractive Cabopino marina is relatively close at hand. Made up of fine golden-grey sand the beach is protected from the urbanisations by a large sand dune area. There are three restaurants and a camp site nearby. Playa Artola has been classified as a naturist beach, though (especially during peak seasons) it is mainly frequented by those preferring to keep some clothes on. Though fairly popular this beach does not usually get too busy, even in peak periods. Facilities include; Water sports, sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, life guards, and regular police patrols.
Playa Rio Verde / Rio Verde Beach Playa Rio Verde is a continuation of the small cove that sits next to Puerto Banus' port area. It is flanked by the Rio Verde urbanization and next to the river of the same name. There are also the remains of a 1st century Roman villa nearby (known as the Rio Verde Roman villa). Though the sand here is a little greyer than elsewhere (mainly stemming from its proximity to the river) the beach does give attractive views out cross the town and coastline. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, water sports, toilets and showers, life guards, and regular police patrols.
Playa El Ancon / El Ancon Beach Playa El Ancon extends away from Playa Rio Verde. Though bordering the El Ancon residential development the beach is flanked by palms and pine groves, giving a greater feeling of seclusion. This beach is a popular spot to do a bit of fishing, mainly due to its low occupation level. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, water sports, toilets and showers, life guards, and regular police patrols.
