Orba Valley Looking for property? Then click one of these links Orba Property Beniarbeig Property Benidoleig Property Sagra Property Tormos Property The inland portions of the Northern Costa Blanca are considered by many to be one of the more beautiful parts of rural Spain. The Orba valley is an excellent example of this, with natural beauty, lush vegetation and stunning mountain backdrops. The local agriculture is made up of citrus fruits, almonds, grapes, carob, and olives. The villages to be discovered here are small, with a slow pace of life and plenty of old world charm. The village of Orba, from which the valley takes its name, is of Moorish origin. In fact its name is derived from the Arabic Ur-Obia meaning "the place from where water springs from the mountain". Other hints at its past can be seen in the hand crafted pottery produced here and in the neighbouring towns of Beniarbeig, Benidoleig, Sagra, and Tormos. Another industry is the production of bags from the leaves of palm trees. For such a sleepy part of Spain there is a great deal to see and do; from 16th century castles and fortifications, to pre-historic caves, and of course long walks and mountain biking.
