Nerja Real Estate
Nerja and the area surrounding it is proving to be prime real estate. Over the last 20 years property prices in Spain have risen faster than anywhere else (especially southern Spain). This together with one of Europe's mildest climates, lots to see and do, and with an excellent transport infrastructure, mean it is not surprising so many people have taken an interest. In short real estate in Nerja is booming. Nerja has successfully held out against the tower block and high rise hotel image. Instead great care has been taken to preserve its old quarter; a maze of narrow cobbled streets and arches, with white washed houses and traditional wrought iron balconies. Nerja is valued for this retention of old world charm, and consequently provides a slightly different offering to that of other towns along the Costa. Of course the building boom has reached here, and in recent times Nerja has attracted a lot of interest from residential tourists. This has led to continuing expansion of the town, and its population has risen. Most development has been low rise and in the form of villa style communities. It is mainly tasteful and in keeping with what came before. Once just a summer holiday destination, the town now attracts people all year round. It has also developed its image, and is now widely considered to be an upmarket area in which to own a home/spend a holiday. This dual season activity, coupled with the fact that Nerja offers something for everyone, makes it a good spot for a rentals/investment purchase. Aside from Nerja the western side of the Costa del Sol is home to a multitude of options; some worth mentioning are Sotogrande, Puerto Banus, Marbella, Mijas, Fuengirola, and Benalmadena. Between them they offer a diverse range of options on apartments, townhouses and villas. Coastally prices here can vary dramatically, with Marbella/Puerto Banus at the higher end of the market.
