Nerja Beaches Nerja's coastline is more varied than along other parts of the Costa. Made up mainly of rocky cliffs split by a series of sandy coves there are many secluded spots, as well as more expansive urbanised offerings. On the whole they are very well maintained, clean, and serviced by chiringuitos (beach front cafes). Please see below for information on some of the most popular beaches around the town: -
Playa Burriana / Burriana Beach Playa Burriana is one of Nerja's more central beaches. It stretches for ariund 700 metres and is made up of brown sand. The beach is flanked by rocky outcrops topped by traditional white washed Andalucian houses. Another feature are the Gardens of Capistrano; a beautiful park area leading up towards Nerja's central town area. The beach is well served by chiringuitos (beach front cafes) and there are a choice of water sports and other facilities present. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, water sports, volleyball nets, life guards, and regular police patrols.
Playa La Calahonda / La Calahonda Beach Playa La Calahonda is tiny urbanised beach on the front of Nerja town. Situated under the western part of the Balcon de Europa, it is flanked by high rock walls, barely 120 metres in length, and made up of yellow-brown sand. Due to location the beach is very well served by the nearby restaurants and bars that litter this part of Nerja's coastline. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, life guards, parking, and regular police patrols.
Playa La Caletilla / La Caletilla Beach Playa La Caletilla is located next to the Balcon de Europa promenade. A tiny beach measuring no more than 50 or 60 metres in length it is made up of yellow-brown sand. The beach benefits from the facilites of the promenade, including two well established and popular restaurants. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, and parking.
Playa El Salon / El Salon Beach Playa El Salon is an other small urbanised beach on the front of Nerja town. This beach however is flanked by palm trees and vegetation in addition to rock. The beach is approximately 200 metres in length, made up of yellow-brown sand, and well served by chiringuitos (beach front cafes). Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, life guards, parking, and regular police patrols.
Playa El Playazo / El Playazo Beach Playa El Playazo is Nerja's most expansive beach by far, measuring over 1800 metres in length. Easily accessed by foot or by car it is large enough not to get too busy, even during peak season. Facilities include; Sun beds and umbrellas, toilets and showers, life guards, parking, and regular police patrols.
