Mijas Golf The internationally acclaimed Mijas Golf first opened for business in the 1970's. Today it is one of the busiest and most popular courses on the Costa del Sol. It is made up of 2 courses; Los Lagos (The Lakes) and Los Olivos (The Olive Groves). The Club is situated in the valley of Mijas, just north of Fuengirola and just 3.5 kilometres from the Sea. Los Lagos is the oldest course at Mijas Golf. A long and flat course it features (as its name would suggest) wide fairways with numerous lakes (9 in total) and water hazards. This is an ideal course for amateurs, whilst still posing a challenge for the experienced player. The Los Olivos course was added in 1983-84, though it has been completely refurbished in 2000-01. Contrasting with its sister course the greens here are smaller, undulating, often elevated, and well protected by bunkers. The narrow fairways are flanked by an abundance of trees, demanding straight drives from the player. The facilities on offer and in fact the general surroundings at Mijas Golf are of the highest standard. The clubhouse is an old Andalucian Cortijo (farmhouse), and beside it the on site restaurant, offering dining options both inside and out. The cuisine here is typically Spanish with some international dishes mixed in. The Mijas Golf shop stocks many types of equipment and accessories, in addition to designer label clothing brands. Other services include; a driving range, putting green, chipping green, trolley/buggy hire, changing rooms, parking, golf club rental and lessons.
