Marbella is great place to spend your holidays. Firstly it is located within easy driving distance of Malaga Airport. Malaga Airport is of course well served by many leading airlines and boasts connections with most major European cities; see Marbella Flights for more information/to search for flights. Those intending on visiting other parts of the coastline will find Marbella an ideal base to do this from, both from an accessibility point of view, and because of the wide choice of accommodation on offer. Opportunities for car hire are also good; see the Marbella Car Hire document for more information. Marbella is Spain's answer to St. Tropez, and has been a chic and popular destination since the 1950's. As flight routes to Malaga airport have grown more frequent Marbella has attracted more visitors. Many of the Costa's amusement parks and other attractions are based within short driving distance; Tivoli World, the Selwo Marine Park, and the Benalmadena Sea Life Centre to name but a few. There are also plenty of sights to take in and much to see and explore; from the character and charm of its old town, to the glitz and glamour of the port area. As mentioned earlier one of the main attractions here is the diversity and availability of accommodation. There are numerous high end luxury hotels available, alongside some lower cost alternatives. To search for hotels see Marbella Hotels; to search for rental accommodation in Marbella see Marbella Rentals. Shopping is great here; with an excellent selection of outlets selling local wares, alongside the designer label offerings that Marbella has become synonymous with. Marbella does offer a great sea front and there are a collection of good Marbella Beaches to choose from. Visitors should find them spotlessly clean, with fine sand and flanked by a seemingly endless line of quality restaurants and Chiringuitos (beach front cafes). The town's nightlife is one of Marbella's main draws. A multitude of bars and clubs can be found here, many of them around the port area. A world apart from other European coastal resorts, Marbella's nightlife is varied, sophisticated, and well worth checking out. More traditional fiestas (festivals) are still prevalent, and there are a wide number to choose from, see Marbella Fiestas for more information. Marbella weather is well known for being mild, making it an ideal destination in both the summer and winter months. The coastline is sheltered by hills and high mountains, allowing for a micro climate. This limits rainfall, and as a result the region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. Marbella is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Mild winters average at around 18°C (64°F). A bi-product of the mild weather is that it makes for an ideal golfing climate. As a result many visiting golfers (including well known professionals) use the Costa del Sol as their winter training ground. There are a multitude of golf courses within reach of Marbella, see Marbella Golf for details.
