Malaga is great place to spend your holidays. Firstly it is home to the Costa del Sol's only international airport; Malaga Airport. Malaga Airport is well served by many leading airlines and boasts connections with most major European cities; see Malaga Flights for more information/to search for flights. Those intending on visiting other parts of the coastline will find Malaga an ideal base to do this from, both from an accessibility point of view, and because of the wide choice of accommodation on offer. Opportunities for car hire are also good (whether from the city or from the airport); see the Malaga Car Hire document for more information. Malaga is Spain's gateway to the Costa del Sol (a chic and popular destination since the 1950's) but is an attraction in its own right. As flight routes to Malaga airport have grown more frequent Malaga has itself attracted more visitors. Many of the Costa's amusement parks and other attractions are based within short driving distance of here; Tivoli World, the Selwo Marine Park, and the Benalmadena Sea Life Centre to name but a few. There are also plenty of sights to take in and much to see and explore; from the character and charm of its historic squares and monuments, to its trendy shops and eateries. As mentioned earlier one of the main attractions here is the diversity and availability of accommodation. There are numerous high end luxury hotels available, alongside some lower cost alternatives. To search for hotels see Malaga Hotels; to search for rental accommodation in Malaga see Malaga Rentals. Shopping is great here; with an excellent selection of outlets selling local wares, alongside the usual chain stores and designer label offerings. Malaga does offer good Malaga Beaches to choose from. Visitors should find them spotlessly clean, with fine sand and flanked by restaurants and Chiringuitos (beach front cafes). Malaga's nightlife is one of the cities main draws. A multitude of bars and clubs can be found here, many of them around the entwined Marques de Larios, Plaza de la Constitucion and Calle de Granada. The weekends are of course the best time to enjoy the nightlife here, but do be aware it can become very busy, with many locals beginning their evening at 11/12pm and not returning home until the early hours. More traditional fiestas (festivals) are still prevalent, and there are a wide number to choose from, see Malaga Fiestas for more information. Malaga Weather is well known for being mild, making it an ideal destination in both the summer and winter months. The coastline is sheltered by hills and high mountains, allowing for a micro climate. This limits rainfall, and as a result the region enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. Malaga is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Mild winters average at around 18°C (64°F). A bi-product of the mild weather is that it makes for an ideal golfing climate. As a result many visiting golfers (including well known professionals) use the Costa del Sol as their winter training ground. There are a multitude of golf courses within reach of Malaga, see Malaga Golf for details.
