Guardamar Golf Guardamar is within driving distance of an excellent range of golf courses. The majority of courses cater for those on holiday or in the area for short-ish periods, and as a result do not usually allow bookings more than 7 days in advance (unless in large groups). If flexible you should not have a problem getting some green time with as little as one days notice. Listed below are a selection of golf courses in the Guardamar area: -
La Finca (Algorfa Golf Club) The newest course in the "Villamartin" portfolio, La Finca (Algorfa golf club) first opened its doors for play in 2002. The course is situated at the foot of Mount Escotera, in the municipality of Algorfa, right in the heart of the Segura region. La Finca is a golfing oasis placed in picturesque rural surroundings with fantastic views. Ideally located for those who want to play golf in the heart of the country, while at the same time being able to enjoy the areas best beaches, sailing clubs, and a host of other facilities at just a few minutes drive. Designed to host top tournaments, La Finca has the greatest variety of greens of any course on the Costa Blanca, ranging in size from very large to very small. As a bonus feature, the course has a reserve hole so that, in the event that one of the holes has to be closed off unexpectedly, players are still able to complete a full 18-hole round. Several lakes with running water and reed beds along the course add beauty and difficulty to the game, making the course the home of a wide variety of migratory water birds, such as ducks and egrets. The interior of the course is home to olive and palm trees, creating a beautiful backdrop of vegetation with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour. Apart from the 18 hole course, additional golfing facilities include a driving range, putting greens, chipping area and practice bunker. Services at the club house include a restaurant, bar/cafeteria, changing rooms and golf shop; where buggies trolleys and clubs are available for hire.
Villamartin Founded in 1972, "Villamartin" has grown in fame to become one of the most popular and highly esteemed golf courses in Spain. In 1994 it hosted the Mediterranean open, and many other competitions take place both pro am and amateur. The course, with its own clubhouse, is well designed green and lush, as is the picturesque countryside surrounding it. A beautiful rural area, yet, only a 10 minute drive into Torrevieja town centre. On the complex there are many shops, restaurants, bars, banks, tennis courts, swimming pools and very close by there is a horse riding stable. In the centre of the main commercial zone there is an attractive plaza, where you can relax under the palm trees and linger over a cool drink. The properties available here really are the last word in luxury and are built to the very highest standards. There are all types from low-rise apartments, duplexes, and detached villas.
Urbinizacion Lomas de Campoamor The Real Club de Golf Campoamor is built on a former country estate and surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside. It was originally designed to take advantage of the unusual landscape. Its 18 holes run through two connected valleys surrounded by low, gently undulating ridges which protect it from the wind. The course is situated about 100 metres above sea level, and is bordered to the South by the Tagus-Segura canal. Property available around the golf course comes in the shape of both apartments and chalets. Communities tend to be low rise, discreet and peaceful, ideal for relaxation or outdoor pursuits. Communal facilities (such as swimming pools) are well managed and not overcrowded. It is also worth noting that the Club House for the course is impressive and hosts a splendid dining area. Amenities are present on the community, and for anything that is not, commercial centres around Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca and La Zenia offer further options. The blue flag beaches of Dehesa de Campoamor are a short drive away.
Alicante - Golf Club Open since 1998 this excellent 6,270 metre par 72 course was designed by Severiano Ballesteros. Its location is excellent, bordering the cosmopolitan city of Alicante, and 800m from the popular Playa de San Juan (San Juan beach). At just 20 minutes from Alicante's El Altet international airport this course is ideally placed for weekend golfing visits. The course itself is made up of beautiful park areas and splendid lakes. Play consists of long tees and wide greens, with strategically placed bunkers. However water hazards do litter the course with some frequency, and there is lots of OB, making Alicante Golf a course for the more careful player. Additional facilities available are; a driving range, putting green, chipping green, practice bunker, on course WC, on course beverages, restaurant, snack bar, games room, sauna, pro shop, buggy hire, club hire, trolley hire (electric and manual), golf lessons and club repair. The course is also home to the luxurious 156 room Hesperia Golf Spa Hotel. This five star rated hotel is tastefully decorated and boasts all the facilities of a luxury hotel. Host to a health and beauty centre, a range of specialist treatments are also available. Alicante Golf also boasts a good commercial zone, namely the "Ronda Shopping Centre". This houses a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants of varying sizes, set out in the style of a typical Andalucian village. Most of this is pedestrianised, well laid out and an asset to the course and residential zones.
