Fuengirola Zoo The newly built Fuengirola Zoo is a well designed animal and visitor friendly attraction. Set in a large area just outside the town, the zoo has been carved up into several zones; each offering different species in natural environments. The simulated tropical rainforest is complete with lush vegetation, rivers and waterfalls. Here you will see crocodiles, tigers, and lemurs. The nearby "Claro de Selva" zone shows bats and birds in their respective natural habitats (two tours made daily). The forest floor section offers meer-cats, giants snails and river hogs. The forest canopy however boasts gibbons, hornbills and many other types of monkey. One of the unique attractions at Fuengirola Zoo is the "moonlight visit". During the months of July and August the park stays open until 1 am; allowing visitors the chance of observing some of the more nocturnally active creatures. These include leopards, flying foxes and porcupines. Small children are also catered for with the inclusion of a miniature farm and a children's play area. The layout of the park is mostly flat and facilities are present for the disabled. There are drink and snack options littered around the Zoo, though more substantial meals are available in any one of the Zoo's themed restaurants.
