The Coastline is also a favorite for films sets because of its desert land, including Lawrence of Arabia, and lots of Westerns including a Fist Full of Dollars (please see our theme park page for more details).    In Gergal, Sierra de los Filabres, you will find a astronomical center where you will find the worlds most powerful telescope, with the year round clear skies there is much to see.  There are many troglodyte villages worth visiting  because their homes are caves dug out of the cliffs.  The village of Sante Fe de Modujar is well recommended. Almeria celebrates many festivals including the Carnival and Holy Weeks.  However by far the most significant event is the Almeria Fair (please see our fiestas page for more details).  The sea along this coastline is crystal clear and often as warm as the air.  The beaches are well maintained and sandy (please see our beaches page for more details).
