Cartagena Beaches The city of Cartagena is built around a deep bay with a natural harbour. This is ultimately the reason people settled here in the first place, but it also means that central zones are not suitable for bathing. However (slightly farther afield) there are a few choices, they are as follows: -
Playa Punta Brava / Punta Brava Beach Playa Punta Brava is a large beach measuring 1300 metres. It is one of Cartagena's most popular beaches with a high influx of visitors during the summer (especially at weekends). The beach is sandy and the waters are calm. It also features good access from the N-332 coastal road. Facilities include; Parking, toilets, showers, restaurants, red cross, regular police and life guard patrols, and water sports.
Playa Los Urrutias / Los Urrutias Beach Playa Los Urrutias is a long beach measuring 1 kilometre located on the outskirts of Cartagena. It is made up of fine golden sand and has an excellent range of amenities. Facilities include; Water sports, ramps and provision for people with disabilities, toilets, showers, pubic telephones, life guards, and regular police patrols.
Playa Los Nietos / Los Nietos Beach Made up of fine dark sand, Playa Los Nietos is a long beach measuring 2 kilometres. A popular beach it can get busy here during the summer months. Facilities include; Water sports, ramps and provision for people with disabilities, parking, red cross, restaurants, toilets, showers, life guards, and regular police patrols.
