Cabo de Gata

Cabo de Gata is a small Spanish fishing town, with its main attraction being the Natural Park.  It is a huge 61km and is protected by Unesco as a Biosphere Reserve, due to its high ecological value.  There are many habitants in the park including; eagles, pink flamingo, wall lizards, grass snakes, to name a few.  There are also many beaches with cliffs, capes, and volcanic hills as a backdrop.

There are seven golf courses in the Costa Almeria coastline; the Cortijo Grande, Desert Springs, Golf Almerimar, La Envia, Marina Golf, Playa Serena, and the Valle del Este.  As it is a relatively small Costa non of them are very far from Cabo de Gata.  Please see Cabo de Gata Golf for more information.

There are many beaches in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, most are situated at the east and south end of the park.  Although popular during the summer, the Cabo de Gata beaches are have a rural feel to them, not full to the brim of holiday makers.  As Cabo de Gata is a Blue Flag beach there are lifeguards working during the summer months.  Please see Cabo de Gata beaches for more information.

There aren't any marinas in Cabo de Gata however there are many nearby.  Many marinas along the Costa Almeria are full and have a long waiting list. Only in large marinas such as Aguadulce Marina, and Almerimar Marina have mooring space available.  Please see Cabo de Gata Marinas for more information.

Annually on the 23rd June there is a fiesta in Cabo de Gata celebrating San Juan.  On the beach in the evening the locals light bonfires and celebrate St John (San Juan).

The weather is fabulous in the Costa Almeria all year round.  The average temperature in the summer months is 25ºC and in the winter months is 12ºC.
