Alicante Attractions

Alicante is a marvellous city with many things to see and do, but it is also a province. The province of Alicante reaches as far North (coastally) as Denia and as far south as San Pedro del Pinatar, and there are a mountain of attractions within its borders. Whether you are opting for a daytrip, or something to do in the evening there really is something here for everyone.

Cuevas del Canelobre

These prehistoric caves are located near the town of Busot, just 24 km from Alicante city. The interior of the caves features a very high roof, resembling that of a cathedral. Here you can admire the varied forms the rocks have been worn into; some look like animals, others candelabra etc.

Cueva de Calaveres

This prehistoric cave is situated 1.5 kilometres outside the town of Benidoleig. The magnificent cave is covered in stalactites and stalagmites, and is over 350 yards long. In places the domed roof reaches over 60 feet in height.

Alicante Casinos

There are a few Casinos within reach of Alicante offering blackjack tables, roulette, slot machines etc. Entrance requires (free) membership so do not forget your passport or you will not be allowed in.

Alicante Safari Parks

There are 2 main safari parks within easy driving distance of Alicante, and both are located in Alicante province itself.

Desafio Medieval (Medieval Jousting)

For a very medieval night out it is worth visiting the Castle of the Count of Alfaz. The evenings entertainment consists of jousting and swordplay acted out by experienced stuntmen/actors dressed as knights.

El Agudo Cuerda de La Murada, Alicante

El Agudo is an area of natural beauty between the villages of Barbarroja and La Murada. Known as the protector of La Murada this fantastic and rugged, mountainside is dotted with ravines carved out by rivers flowing since time began.

El Palmeral

Another tourist attraction in Alicante province is El Palmeral, which is essentially made up of palm and date tree orchards. It is located very near the town of Orihuela.

Embalse de la Pedrera

Alicante province is home to numerous attractions. One of these is the Embalse de Pedrera, which is a large reservoir situated near the village of Torremendo.

Guadalest

The charming village of Guadalest is one of the best days out in the province of Alicante. Surrounded by the Aitana, Serella and Xorta Mountains the village is widely recognised as being a historically important site, as well as one of great beauty.

Les Fonts de Algar (Algar Waterfalls)

Les Fonts de Algar are set in an area of natural beauty near the town of Callosa den Sarria. An excellent day out for the family the Algar is set out like a natural water park.

Mundomar Marine Exotic Animal Park

Mundomar translates to Sea World in the English language, and a sea world is what you will get when visiting this excellent marine park. It is a unique experience with many exotic birds and marine animals to be observed in a natural environment.

Rock of Ifach

The Rock of Ifach overlooks the fishing port of Calpe, on the Northern side of the Costa Blanca. It was originally called the Northern Rock, named so by the Phoenicians in order to distinguish it from Gibraltar.

Sierra de Escalona

The Sierra de Escalona is a large forest area just inland from Campoamor. Although low altitude and close to the coast, the forest is still home to many bird species, including birds of prey. It is also home to many small mammals. The trees are mainly made up of Pine, Arbutus and Oaks.

Soto de Molino de la Ciudad

The main interest here is an area of woods and wetlands, positioned next to the village of Molino de la Ciudad, which is itself charming and surrounded by orchards.

Jijona

Set in the mountains on the road between Alicante and Alcoy the town of Jijona is at an altitude of 450 metres, giving unparalleled views of the Mediterranean. This historical town has played a vital role throughout its existence, mainly as a frontier town.

Benidorm Palace

The Benidorm Palace first opened its doors in 1977, instantly becoming a major tourist attraction in Benidorm. Seating over 1,500 people the shows put on are cabaret style with singing, dancing, acrobatics, magic shows and illusionists on offer.
