Les Fonts de Algar (Algar Waterfalls) Les Fonts de Algar are set in an area of natural beauty near the town of Callosa den Sarria. An excellent day out for the family the Algar is set out like a natural water park. This is made up of the waterfalls themselves, and a series of swimming pools in which to enjoy the crystal waters (which are of course filled by natural springs). For those keen on walking the river is followed closely by a series of pathways, and constantly flanked by vegetation characteristic of the area (reeds, bamboo etc). One of these paths takes you up to the Arboretum, which is a garden of natural spices. Most of the typical Mediterranean spice plants can be found here. Next to the garden is the museum of the environment which is home to a collection of aromatic and medicinal herbs and the essence of oils and perfumes made from them. All products here are available for purchase. Above the bathing area, at the top of the valley a picnicking area has been created with many facilities including barbecues, tables, benches, stored, logs, toilets and showers. Other attractions nearby are a railway museum, and the Algar Cactus Company.
